Wei Wuxian jolted awake, momentarily confused by the darkness all around him even as he heard the sounds of morning in the forest. In a rush he remembered the bet he made.
The blindfold on his face blocked his sight completely, but Wei Wuxian was certain the short time he had spent using his hell flute Chenqing had already caught him more prey than anyone else on the mountain. He had won the Siege Hunt, even with such a disadvantage, and had dozed on the tree he had waken up on.
The sound of movement had woken him, but Wei Wuxian sensed no killing intent from his fellow cultivator approaching down the path. Yawning, he stretched back against the tree, feeling too lazy to move or even remove the blindfold. It was his first opportunity to prove he was still wearing the blindfold and being a good sport about things, not wanting to have rumors that he cheated. He didn’t need to cheat; he was just that good.
The approaching person had stopped not far away and had yet to say anything. Wei Wuxian turned his head to where he sensed the newcomer, his mouth automatically filling in the silence the longer it stretched.
“You’re here to participate in the Siege Hunt?” he asked conversationally, only getting silence in return. It reminded him too much of his stony friend Lan Wangji, and Wei Wuxian pressed on, feeling the need to boast. “You won’t find any prey near me.” He had cleared everything from the area when he arrived.
Soft footsteps dared closer instead of moving further along the path, but still the person said nothing.
Wei Wuxian was surprised. Most cultivators avoided him at all costs, not wanting to compete with his power or to face his hoards of undead. They barely dared speak to him among a crowd, never mind try to seek him out in private. Still, Wei Wuxian felt no killing intent, something he would expect of a cultivator bold enough to seek him out without witnesses to any ill intentions.
Straightening in his seat on the tree, Wei Wuxian tilted his head toward the person waiting in silence, trying to use his other senses to discern what they might want. A smile teased at his lips as he considered something to say that would guarantee a loud, if not incensed response.
But as he was opening his mouth to speak, a palm suddenly struck his shoulder, shoving him back against the tree. Wei Wuxian reached for his blindfold, but his wrist was caught, strong, long fingers grasping him and holding him like iron. Wei Wuxian’s nostrils flared in warning, but even with him being caught, he still sensed no killing intent.
The scent of sandalwood teased his senses. Wei Wuxian’s movements to pull a talisman from his sleeve were just as efficiently thwarted as his other wrist was grabbed and his hands pinned against the tree on both sides of his head. He gathered his strength , grunting in surprise when he couldn’t break free. Inhaling to shout, he froze as lips suddenly slid over his.
Wei Wuxian’s mind stuttered, everything going blank as bold yet trembling lips explored his, and silky, long hair drifted down to tease against his cheek.
His senses expanded, feeling the heat from the other’s body roaring not far away, hearing the rustle of robes, and soft, hushed breathing that was in rhythm with the hot mouth rubbing intently against his, mercilessly pulling kiss after kiss from him.
They were tall, reaching him where he was sitting on the tree, long strands of hair tickling with the breeze. Strong, not just in the way he was pinned back, but with a glowing sense of power within from high cultivation.
The hands on his wrists weren’t small, nor the mouth he was quickly learning the shape of. Something soft fluttered against his cheek, tangled in the long strands of hair, and Wei Wuxian’s brows twisted in faint recognition.
Was it a head ribbon…?
Lan Wangji’s beautiful face flashed in his mind again. Wei Wuxian almost laughed at the thought—Lan Wangji would never! His mind racing to figure out who would have the daring, never mind the interest within the Lan Clan to pounce on him like this, Wei Wuxian wasn’t prepared for when firm lips turned fierce, and a bold tongue slipped between his lips.
Gasping in surprise, lips sealed over his and a tongue darted around his mouth, tasting every spot it could reach. He moaned, turning to breathe, but strong fingers led him back, clamping onto his jaw until he opened again to the demanding mouth on his.
Each gasp was stolen away, swallowed down by the mouth dominating his. Wei Wuxian’s attempts to keep up with the fierce tongue and tangle with it grew slower the longer the battle went on and a dizzying fire rose in him. His hand was free, he realized blearily, but Wei Wuxian could only grasp at the powerful shoulder of the one pinning him. Saliva dripped from his parted lips, and Wei Wuxian whimpered as teeth tugged at his lower lip, scraping sharply, bruising the tender flesh remorselessly.
Feeling as though a great weight was on his body, his strength drained away by the hot mouth, Wei Wuxian could only turn toward the next assault, this kiss far more gentle as swollen lips nuzzled his in farewell.
As abruptly as it started, the kiss stopped, leaving Wei Wuxian to gasp for breath alone.

The air was chill around him, the sunlight doing nothing to compete with the heat he had just felt. Wei Wuxian panted in the darkness behind the blindfold, his mind racing wildly, body shaking in a heady mix of lust and confusion.
Why did they stop?
Wei Wuxian pushed up on the tree with shaking arms and snatched the blindfold from his face.
Better yet, who the Hell were they?
He looked around the trees, shrubs, and overgrown grass, but there were no signs of the person who had kissed him. The forest felt empty, and Wei Wuxian moved wobbly legs to hop down from his perch, only to cling to the tree trunk when the world spun.
What was wrong with him? No kiss should have left him so useless long after. Or during, for that matter, with him so easily pinned and kissed senseless. Surely it was one of those roaming mountain spirits known for growing lustful, or a lovestruck ghosts. He felt drained of everything—what else could it be?!
Wei Wuxian stood on quivering legs and looked around, checking behind bushes and tall trees, even squinting up at the sun soaked canopy above. But there weren’t signs of anyone, person or spirit. He shook his addled head, eyes straying all around for signs of his secret kisser as he wandered deeper into the forest.
Losing his first kiss was not how he had expected at all. For one, he should at least know the person. That had to be, like, the bare minimum of such an anticipated task.
Odd noises were heard ahead. Wei Wuxian’s fingers strayed to tease his tingling lips that were hot to the touch as he absentmindedly followed the sounds. He furrowed his brow; it sounded like fighting, of someone slamming fists again and again, but the target impact sounded wrong.
Once he finally found the source of the blows, Wei Wuxian missed a step at the sight of Lan Wangji—his tall, elegant figure cutting through the dark forest like a white blade—punching a tree with his fist. As Wei Wuxian watched, the trunk cracked and snapped in half under his assault.
What in the world had the trees done to Lan Wangji to deserve such treatment?
Intrigued, Wei Wuxian approached, finding rage on Lan Wangji’s handsome features as he punched another tree, seemingly venting his anger on the scenery.
“Lan Zhan, what are you doing?” Wei Wuxian called, wondering if he would even answer. Lan Wangji was stalking toward his next rooted victim when he heard his voice and turned, rage burning in his eyes. Wei Wuxian blinked, shocked at his fierce expression. “Whoa, scary.”
“Leave!” Lan Wangji growled sharply. Always dressed as if for a funeral, today Lan Wangji looked like he was going to kill him.
His features twisting into a hurt pout, Wei Wuxian refused, crossing him arms around his black robed form. “I just got here, and you want me to leave. Do you hate me that much, Lan Zhan?”
His expression growing more intense, Lan Wangji bared his teeth. “Stay away from me!”
This wasn’t like Lan Wangji at all, who was always cool, composed, and detached, even in the heat of battle. Wei Wuxian had only ever seen him like this during their time in the cave when fighting the Tortoise of Slaughter. But there was no such beast here, nothing malicious at all that could be sensed.
Wei Wuxian looked to the trees Lan Wangji had targeted, trying to piece together what was going on. Broken tree trunks littered the area, thick branches having been pulled down and snapped into pieces. Wei Wuxian’s confusion grew instead of lessened.
“Lan Zhan, are you okay? If something is the matter, you should speak up.”
His words only seemed to upset him more, and Lan Wangji drew his sword by a few inches, the spirit power radiating off the blade enough to slice through the surrounding trees. Heavy limbs fell and trucks were sliced in half, the grove crumbling around him.
Idly pressing his fingers to his tingling lips, Wei Wuxian watched Lan Wangji seethe with something unresolved, his composure slowly forming around him until he was as still as the remaining trees. Crystal eyes met his across the distance. Wei Wuxian was suddenly aware of how he must look, his lips still burning from the kiss of earlier. But he couldn’t look away, trapped for long moments in Lan Wangji’s heated stare.
“Lan Zhan?” Wei Wuxian finally asked, his gaze drifting to one of Lan Wangji’s hair ribbons fluttering in the breeze, a white streak among his floating dark strands of hair.
“It’s nothing,” Lan Wangji retorted quickly, almost sounding like his normal self as he sheathed his sword. But Wei Wuxian noticed then that it wasn’t just anger that had changed his face, but that Lan Wangji’s lips were unusually flushed and swollen.
Wei Wuxian looked to the fallen trees again, his thoughts finally clicking into place. “Lan Zhan, was it a tree yao?”
Lan Wangji, who was picking his way through the mess of fallen trees, paused at the question.
Wei Wuxian approached, eyes focused on the ground to avoid being caught up in branches full of leaves or hidden chunks of tree trunk. By the time he reached where Lan Wangji had been, his white draped form was already walking into the forest, and Wei Wuxian scrambled to catch up.
Once right behind him, Wei Wuxian reached for Lan Wangji’s wrist to check his pulse, but Lan Wangji dodged away and sent him a cold glare.
Wei Wuxian fixed a pout on his face and used the pause to match strides. “I just want to know if you’re okay. You were acting really strange, like poisoned or injured.”
Or really crazy mad after being kissed by a horny tree yao…
“I’m fine,” Lan Wangji snapped.
He clearly wasn’t, but Wei Wuxian didn’t want to be bit for pushing the issue, so he didn’t argue. Lan Wangji did seem more like himself, well, as long as he ignored his flushed, swollen mouth…
“Lan Zhan, have you ever kissed anyone?” Wei Wuxian asked without thinking.
Lan Wangji froze mid step and refused to meet his gaze. “Why do you ask?” he asked, his voice sounding like brittle frost.
Chuckling, Wei Wuxian quickly waved his hand dismissively. “You haven’t, huh? I knew it. You don’t have to be so angry.”
Lan Wangji’s expression grew frostier. “How would you know?”
Not realizing the danger he was courting, Wei Wuxian continued on confidently. “Well, It’s pretty obvious. You’re always stiff as a board; who’d dare kiss you? And I don’t expect you to take the initiative to kiss someone. I bet you’ll be holding onto your first kiss for the rest of your life!” he concluded with a loud laugh.
Lan Wangji assessed him in cold silence. “What about you?”
“Me?” Wei Wuxian puffed his chest out, his grin turning devious. “Do you even need to ask? Of course I’m experienced.”
Lan Wangji turned fully toward him, pinning him in his icy stare. “How many?”
“Huh?” Wei Wuxian asked dumbly, not expecting any follow up. Lan Wangji was so shy about things like this, after all. He freaked out at the very sight of an erotic book.
Lan Wangji stepped closer, his eyes narrowing when Wei Wuxian refused to answer. “You say you’re experienced, so you would know how many.”
Feeling a trap closing in unexpectedly, Wei Wuxian took a step back, his wicked grin turning defensive. “How many what? Kisses? …Partners?”
The suspicion in Lan Wangji’s eyes only grew. “Positions,” he asked coolly.
Eyes widening in shock, Wei Wuxian covered his mouth with his hand, his face burning hot. Had he really just—? Lan Wangji, the shyest monk ever, asking that?! In disbelief, Wei Wuxian found himself shouting, “Lan Zhan, you can’t just ask something like that!”
Lan Wangji was completely unimpressed by his fluster. “Tell me.”
Trying to recover from the mental image of Lan Wangji studying erotic texts to learn positions, Wei Wuxian waved his hand dismissively, refusing to meet his eyes. “Who really keeps track after the twentieth or thirtieth, right?”
“You’re lying,” Lan Wangji declared confidently.
Wei Wuxian pursed his lips, affronted. He was obviously lying and didn’t enjoy being called out over it. “Not lying, Lan Zhan, just, you know, saying things.”
He dared a glance his way, relieved to see Lan Wangji’s expression had melted slightly. “It’s different. Everyone exaggerates these sorts of things.”
“No, you exaggerate everything,” Lan Wangji retorted darkly. “Most times, I don’t even think you know the truth.”
Pouting, Wei Wuxian fixed him with an injured look. “Lan Zhan, have I ever…?” He couldn’t even finish the question, withering under Lan Wangji’s cold expression. But at some point Lan Wangji had drawn closer, and Wei Wuxian was captivated to find that up close Lan Wangji’s lips were definitely swollen from being freshly kiss.
“Lan Zhan, Lan Zhan, someone got you too?”
“Got…?” Lan Wangji jerked back when Wei Wuxian tried to press his fingers to his lips. “Wei Ying!”
“Don’t be angry. I wasn’t going to hit you.” Again looking far too hurt for the moment, Wei Wuxian met Lan Wangji’s angry gaze. “I just wanted to see if they tingled too.”
“Frivolous,” Lan Wangji muttered, but he stayed still when Wei Wuxian’s hand strayed toward his face again, watching his fingers suspiciously.
“Lan Zhan, I think someone kissed you. Your lips are…” Before his fingers could make contact with what Wei Wuxian anticipated were very hot lips, Lan Wangji caught his wrist. Wei Wuxian couldn’t help but notice it felt just like one of the hands that had been around his wrist when kissing him, the same grip, same strength, same size… He licked his lips.
“Frivolous,” Lan Wangji repeated, pushing Wei Wuxian’s arm away.
Dimly, Wei Wuxian realized Lan Wangji would sometimes say frivolous instead of answering a question. He didn’t lie, necessarily, but he wasn’t answering either, so it couldn’t truly be a lie.
It was very clever, and Wei Wuxian smiled to himself at Lan Wangji’s deviousness. A familiar scent trickled in, and Wei Wuxian’s eyes closed, cooling sandalwood and something else, something warm and irresistible, reaching him. He turned in the darkness, seeking out the source, his face brushing against Lan Wangji’s hair. Lan Wangji was standing impossibly still, as if holding his breath.
“Lan Zhan, did maybe a mountain spirit pass by here and kiss you so soundly, they ended up smelling like you when they kissed me after?”
Lan Wangji didn’t answer, the silence stretching. Wei Wuxian peeked his eyes open, finding Lan Wangji’s swollen lips pursed as if he were trying to hide them.
“Maybe it wasn’t a spirit?” Wei Wuxian ventured instead. He wasn’t sure if they were kissed by the same being that drained him of strength, but it seemed most likely of all the possibilities. Lan Wangji could barely tolerate him, after all.
But then, he was acting really strange today. Had Lan Wangji stolen a kiss…?
“No one or thing has come through here,” Lan Wangji said evenly, but there was something fiery flickering in his eyes as he stared Wei Wuxian down.
His mouth unable to stay quiet, Wei Wuxian continued talking aimlessly, thinking of the time in the cave when Lan Wangji’s eyes had burned then too.
“Lan Zhan, you never told me why you bit me that time. It really hurt,” he whined, remembering it freshly.
The change of topic somehow annoyed Lan Wangji even more. “Vexing! Go away.”
Wei Wuxian shook his head, his long dark hair drifting about his shoulders. He dipped his head to scent Lan Wangji’s warm breath, pausing at the touch of his hair ribbon teasing across his cheek.
Could he have…?
“Lan Zhan, can a ghost smell like another person?” Wei Wuxian inched closer, pressing against the ribbon, turning until it slid across his lips. It felt the same, his lips prickling with sensation.
“Wei Ying.”
Feeling dazed from the touch of fabric to his still tingling lips, Wei Wuxian cracked his eyelids open, meeting Lan Wangji’s heated stare. Lan Wangji’s hair ribbon was a white trail across the bridge of Wei Wuxian’s nose and down his lips.
“What are you doing?” Lan Wangji asked, his breath seemingly stuck in his chest.
Did he want to kiss him? Wei Wuxian couldn’t tell. He thought he might, just, Lan Wangji also looked so angry that he couldn’t notice anything else.
Letting the ribbon dangle across his mouth, Wei Wuxian felt his teasing smile grow the longer he was under Lan Wangji’s intent glare. “I’m waiting to see if you’ll bite me again.”
In an instant, Lan Wangji had his wrists grasped with his long fingers, but instead of pushing him away so Wei Wuxian could roar in laughter at his reaction, he pulled him close until Wei Wuxian stumbled and crashed against his chest.
“Wei Ying!” Lan Wangji declared sharply. “You are…” He exhaled to calm himself, but Wei Wuxian’s never ceasing mouth decided to fill in the blank.
“Vexing.”
“Yes!” Lan Wangji snapped.
Wei Wuxian’s teasing smile grew. “Impertinent.”
Lan Wangji glared and squeezed his wrists sharply. “It’s not humorous. You’re shamelessly impertinent.”
“Don’t forget frivolous,” Wei Wuxian added, one of his favorites.
Lan Wangji only glared, suspicion clear on his fine features.
His smile fully wicked, Wei Wuxian leaned closer in his hold, feeling every muscle in Lan Wangji’s body tense. “Lan Zhan, what about… Kissable?”
Lan Wangji’s glare scalded as he growled. “Tormenting!”
“That wasn’t a no, Lan er-gege.” Wei Wuxian pointed out solemnly, fighting back his laughter. He gave an experimental pull to his hands, but Lan Wangji refused to give an inch. His stomach twisting with something hot, Wei Wuxian continued his teasing. “Lan Zhan, did you bite me because you really wanted to do something else to me?”
It was so easy to provoke him, especially when Wei Wuxian knew Lan Wangji’s answer was he probably wanted to snap his neck.
Anger rumbling in his chest, Lan Wangji stepped forward, Wei Wuxian caught in his grasp, the move forcing him to step back or be knocked over. He pushed deliberate steps until rough bark bit into Wei Wuxian’s back and ass as he was pinned against a tree.
His breath coming out faster, Wei Wuxian glanced sideways to see his predicament, unable to miss the destroyed trunk of a tree in the distance. Which reminded him…
“Lan Zhan, was it a tree yao that kissed you and me—?”
“Wei Ying, why did you give me a flower earlier?” Lan Wangji interjected, his voice full of something raw.
Wei Wuxian blinked in confusion, his roguish smile returning in full force. “Why else? Because you’re so beautiful.”
Lan Wangji exhaled in frustration, the answer exactly what he thought. “Tormenting.” Lan Wangji turned to leave, his powerful grip releasing him, only for Wei Wuxian to grab his hand to keep him there.
“Lan Zhan, seriously, the bite. What did I do? You were injured but so angry…” Wei Wuxian had been left ruminating for months after the incident, and Lan Wangji had this annoying habit of never talking about anything.
“Why do you want to know this now?” Lan Wangji stared at the ground, refusing to face him.
Wei Wuxian grinned, that burning twist in his core growing. “Cuz you look just like then, like you’re going to bite me.”
His glare returning, Lan Wangji turned back to slam his palm to Wei Wuxian’s shoulder, pushing him back against the tree. “Wei Ying,” he breathed out. “What do you want from me?”
Wei Wuxian wasn’t exactly sure. The fire flashing in Lan Wangji’s stunning eyes was absolutely fascinating, and in that moment he was extra interesting with full lips swollen from a kiss.
Maybe even a kiss from him.
If his secret kisser really was Lan Wangji, there was really only one way to confirm it.
Lan Wangji’s wrist caught in his hand, Wei Wuxian pressed forward, a forehead ribbon tickling at his cheek as he whispered into his ear. “Lan Zhan?”
Lan Wangji took too long to answer, his tone rougher than normal. “What?”
“I think you’re the same height.”
Lan Wangji didn’t ask the height of who, didn’t say anything, his breathing strained as Wei Wuxian’s breath washed over his ear.
“You smell the same.” Wei Wuxian shifted, his hair teasing along the side of Lan Wangji’s neck, lips brushing a hot touch to his earlobe. “Your hands are even the same, large and strong…”
“Wei Ying,” Lan Wangji’s voice was raw with warning, but Wei Wuxian forged ahead, unheeding.
“So maybe you have kissed someone, right? Maybe a tree yao or a mountain spirit…”
Lan Wangji glared straight ahead, his teeth grit together.
“And for some reason it makes you want to bite me,” Wei Wuxian added, noticing just how tight Lan Wangji’s jaw was clenched.
“Wei Ying! Stop talking nonsense!” Lan Wangji shouted, his eyes flashing, promising punishment.
Laughter shaking him, Wei Wuxian shook his head, his dark eyes sparkling mischief. Lan Wangji tried to go, but Wei Wuxian used both hands this time to hold onto his wrist.
“Wait, Lan Zhan, wait. This is really important…” Wei Wuxian fought to get his chuckles under control, eventually saying in an overly serious tone, “Did the tree yao bruise my lips? They feel very hot and tingly. Look, can you see if they’re okay?”
Hissing in frustration, Lan Wangji snapped, “They’re fine!” But despite his annoyance, his gaze flickered down, his eyelashes hiding his crystalline eyes as he checked to make sure Wei Wuxian wasn’t actually hurt.
“They’re tingling, Lan Zhan. Can you see them tingling? They’re hot. Feel.” Certain he was moments from either being kissed or punched, Wei Wuxian pulled Lan Wangji’s hand to his mouth, breathing on his fingertips. He stole closer to press a slow kiss to Lan Wangji’s very still fingers. “See?”
Lan Wangji nodded sharply, his eyes locked on Wei Wuxian’s mouth.
Anticipation building in the pit of his stomach, Wei Wuxian added very seriously, “Just don’t bite them. You have that rabid look in your eyes.”
Scowling, Lan Wangji glanced up, meeting Wei Wuxian’s teasing gaze. “Wei Ying, if I were rabid, I would be without control. I would be doing things to you,” he emphasized in a rough whisper. “I am not rabid.”
Considering his words for a long moment, Wei Wuxian turned back to the hand he had captured and just kissed. “Lan Zhan, you can bite me a little. Softly.” He parted his lips to nibble on the plump flesh of Lan Wangji’s fingertip. “This soft.”
His breath catching, Lan Wangji watched him with a mix of suspicion and something Wei Wuxian couldn’t name. He nipped his next finger just as gently, his tongue darting out to taste. Lan Wangji’s eyes caught the movement, and he pulled his hand free before Wei Wuxian could nip him again.
He tasted the same, Wei Wuxian was fairly certain, the scent of Lan Wangji’s skin not having changed during one short walk through the forest.
“Wei Ying…”
“If you bite like that, I won’t mind,” Wei Wuxian said, watching Lan Wangji lift his freed hand to his face, wondering if his lips were tingling as much as his. “I bet that tree yao wouldn’t mind either—ha!” He gasped as Lan Wangji growled and pushed him back against the tree, his wrists once again pinned in his strong hold.
“Wei Ying, there is no tree yao,” Lan Wangji said heatedly, close enough Wei Wuxian could feel his words on his cheek.
“No?” Feeling dizzy, Wei Wuxian licked his lips, staring at Lan Wangji’s mouth. “So it was a mountain spirit. I hear they get really horny this time of year.”
“There is no mountain spirit either,” Lan Wangji insisted with a huff of frustration.
Wei Wuxian’s gaze rose to Lan Wangji’s, then slid back down to his swollen lips. “A lecherous ghost?”
“Oblivious!” Lan Wangji cursed, his glare intensifying.
“Lan Zhan, it’s hard to think right now,” Wei Wuxian admitted quietly, wishing he would just kiss him. “My lips keep tingling, and you won’t tell me if yours tingle too.”
His eyes narrowed, Lan Wangji finally said, “They do.”
Wei Wuxian’s smile broke free, too wide and wild to contain. “Can I feel?”
Lan Wangji froze as if holding his breath. “…Why?”
Wei Wuxian couldn’t understand why Lan Wangji hadn’t kissed him yet. What had been so different that first time that wasn’t happening now…?
Ignoring his question, Wei Wuxian looked up at him through dark lashes, finding Lan Wangji’s hair ribbon slightly askew from him playing with it earlier. “Lan Zhan… what would you do if I were wearing a blindfold right now?”
Lan Wangji hissed under his breath, his eyes fixed on Wei Wuxian’s lips. “Tormenting, vexing…”
Finding his response promising, Wei Wuxian continued, a smile teasing at his lips. “What if I close my eyes?” His eyelids fell shut, the darkness expanding as he felt the heat of Lan Wangji inches away, the burning touch on his wrists, the curl of breath on his lips.
“It’s a lot like the blindfold,” Wei Wuxian insisted, confused when still no kiss came. “Maybe the tree yao likes blindfolds?”
“There is no tree—!”
Wei Wuxian couldn’t take it anymore. “Lan Zhan, do something before I die of boredom!” he demanded breathlessly. “You’re just standing there, like fucking forever, holding me here when I have my eyes closed and lips tingling. Do I need to find that tree yao or horny mountain spirit—!”
Growling, Lan Wangji crossed the last breaths between them to crush his lips to Wei Wuxian’s, sealing their mouths together and finally silencing Wei Wuxian’s tormenting chatter.

Even like this, Wei Wuxian couldn’t be truly quiet for long. His parted lips released a low moan as lips bruised his relentless and a hand slid possessively down his side, grasping him closer, tugging at his robes as if wishing they were gone. Lan Wangji was trembling with anger this time, his mouth demanding as he plundered Wei Wuxian’s lips and scraped teeth along the swollen flesh of his bottom lip, nipping roughly until Wei Wuxian opened to his tongue.
As far as kisses went, it was even better than his first. Part of the thrill was knowing perfect Lan Wangji had broken down to kiss him, instead of acting as if his incessant teasing could never reach him. It made the angry scrape of teeth and crush of lips beyond satisfying to know he could get Lan Wangji to feel like this just for him.
“Lan Zhan,” Wei Wuxian rasped out, wanting to tell him how good he was at this.
“Stop. Talking,” Lan Wangji ordered, his angry lips covering his again, stealing his words, fingers finding his jaw to draw him closer and press his mouth wider. Wei Wuxian obliged, meeting his tongue with languid, hungry movements that did nothing to soothe the heat of Lan Wangji’s assault.
Lan Wangji pushed forward, their chests crashing together, Wei Wuxian whimpering in surprise when Lan Wangji’s hot thigh slid between his two, a hand grasping roughly first at his hip, then further back, gripping his ass hard, fingers biting into his flesh, crashing their lower bodies together. His hips jolted from the feel of Lan Wangji’s hard length grinding against his, and Wei Wuxian sought his arm, curling fingers over his wrist, doing nothing to push him away.
Lan Wangji drank down his whimpers, his mouth dominating the kiss until Wei Wuxian was gasping to breathe, saliva smeared on every spot of lips Lan Wangji nipped red and swollen. Wei Wuxian’s lashes fluttering, he grasped at Lan Wangji’s wrist as he felt his strength failing, everything having drained and leaving him weak and boneless.
Apparently kissing Lan Wangji was why he had felt weak earlier, instead of something feeding on his energy. It was unexpected; he wasn’t sure kisses were supposed to do that.
The fierce kiss suddenly breaking, Wei Wuxian stretched his tongue out to find the one missing as Lan Wangji pulled away. He cracked his eyes open, only to inhale sharply when Lan Wangji grabbed and pushed his wrists together and pinned them in place with one hand, while his other swiftly tugged at Wei Wuxian’s robes, pushing them down his pale, strong shoulders until they were exposed to the forest air.
“Lan Zhan,” Wei Wuxian whispered, his lips left burning, bruised and missing the ferocious kiss. “What are you looking for?”
Lan Wangji’s eyes flashed annoyance at the question. He ran his palm down Wei Wuxian’s throat, along his collarbone, around the curve of his shoulder, then pushed the bunched fabric of his robes further down, until his nipples were exposed. He continued pushing his robes until he revealed a scar hidden in the crook of Wei Wuxian’s arm.
“Tell me how many,” Lan Wangji said as his thumb pressed along the line of teeth marks where he had bit Wei Wuxian and the wound had healed. “I’ll know if you lie.”
Wei Wuxian’s brain just wasn’t working. All the blood had flowed to his twitching dick, and his thoughts were sluggish and confused.
Lan Wangji had stolen his first kiss. There was no doubt about it now. It was the same taste, same rough hold, but full of anger and demand this time. And now he was looking for something in his robes, like maybe Lan Wangji thought he had stolen something during the kiss. A number of somethings, it seemed.
Wei Wuxian watched, dumbstruck as Lan Wangji released his wrists to push his robes off his arms completely, the black material falling to the forest floor, leaving him bare from the chest up. Before Wei Wuxian could think to do something, such as reach to pull his clothes back on, Lan Wangji slipped fingers into his hair to tug his hair ribbon free, then used the long, strong ribbon to wrap around Wei Wuxian’s wrists. His movements were fast, assured, and in moments Wei Wuxian was tied up, unable to pull his hands apart even after Lan Wangji released his wrists.
“How many kisses?” Lan Wangji said when it became obvious Wei Wuxian had no idea what he was talking about. “Not counting today.”
“Kisses?” His eyes a daze, Wei Wuxian tilted his head back when Lan Wangji pushed closer, close enough to kiss, their breath mingling as he stared up into clear, crystal eyes. “I don’t… I haven’t…”
“I knew it,” Lan Wangji growled triumphantly. “You never stop talking, frustrate mercilessly, until everyone is annoyed with you. And since using Chenqing, you are surrounded by the smell of death and resentful magic.”
Wei Wuxian’s lashes fluttered, Lan Wangji’s words brushing against his lips. “I… smell of corpses?”
Lan Wangji paused, his voice growing gentle. “Only a little.”
“Ah.” Jeng Cheng had said something similar in anger, but Wei Wuxian had assumed he was being a jealous ass. “But you still kissed me.”
“Mn.” Lan Wangji’s eyes softened. “You were silent for a change.”
As if to show how much he approved of Wei Wuxian’s rare, silent moments, Lan Wangji kissed along his cheek and down his jaw, soft gentle touches that left Wei Wuxian burning from each press of lips. A cool curtain of hair teased Wei Wuxian’s bare chest, his nipples budding at the touch of silky strands.
Lan Wangji’s mouth opened at the curve of his chin, teeth scraping deliberately as he dragged down the column of his pale throat until Wei Wuxian was whimpering. Lan Wangji held him by the back of the head, strong fingers gripping his dark hair as he kissed with wet, wide movements that sucked mercilessly at his flesh, pulling red and purple marks to the surface.
His chest heaving, Wei Wuxian could only pull at his trapped hands, his whimpers turning to moans with each relentless suck and bite of Lan Wangji’s mouth.
Fighting against the hot haze stealing his thoughts, Wei Wuxian asked with brows furrowed, “The bite?”
“You are very, very tormenting, Wei Ying,” Lan Wangji growled against his flesh. “Cruel, no matter how I feel for you.”
Wei Wuxian’s eyebrows twisted. The only feelings he knew Lan Wangji to have for him were anger and frustration. He barely talked—Wei Wuxian had to tease him just to get him to speak, and by that point it was always in anger.
Teeth nipped sharply at the side of his neck. Wei Wuxian yelped, only to groan as Lan Wangji’s tongue and lips rubbed over the pained spot. “Lan Zhan, that’s too hard. Don’t bite—fuck!” he croaked out as teeth sank into his neck defiantly, clamping down, Lan Wangji’s tongue wetting and tormenting his trapped flesh. Wei Wuxian’s bound fingers gripped uselessly at Lan Wangji’s outer robe, urging him closer even as he whined from the pain.
Lan Wangji pulled from his neck, his eyes heated and breathing strained as he glared at him. Wei Wuxian couldn’t help but stare. Lan Wangji’s lips were flushed red, puffy and swollen from what he’d been doing to him, saliva wet all the way down his chin. He had never seen him like this, ruffled, affected, and still very enraged, as if just mentioning the cave of the Slaughter Tortoise had him furious.
Wei Wuxian was apparently right, because when Lan Wangji spoke again, it was about the cave and what Wei Wuxian had done.
“Do not tease me with your body like you did in the cave again.”
It was completely unfair—he had been trying to keep him alive! “Lan Zhan, you had stale blood. It was all I could think of with you so wounded!”
“Wei Ying, find another way!” Lan Wangji growled. “Do not give me flowers and tell me I’m beautiful when you don’t want to be with me. Everything is a joke to you—my heart is no laughing matter.”
“But Lan Zhan, it’s just…” Wei Wuxian didn’t know why he wasn’t willing to stop teasing Lan Wangji, he just knew that he wasn’t. It was like asking a fish to breathe out of water.
“I know you understand this, Wei Ying. You said as much in the cave. You said it of Mianmian after saving her from the iron. That she would remember you forever.”
Wei Wuxian didn’t understand. “Lan Zhan, you don’t need to be jealous…”
“Wei Ying, you saved my life, repeatedly, yet think that I am jealous!” Lan Wangji snapped in exasperation. “I will remember you forever, you fool!”
Growling loudly, Lan Wangji pulled Wei Wuxian’s trapped wrists until his arms were straight, and buried his face against the scar in the crook of his elbow. “You are so oblivious!”

Wei Wuxian flinched, expecting a bite as hard as the one that gave him that scar. He definitely deserved it after Lan Wangji’s confession. Instead, lips pressed soft to his flesh, Lan Wangji’s breath quickly heating his skin.
Shit, was this why Lan Wangji bit him that time? Because he acted like he was going to kiss him, then blabbered on about a girl he saved? Fuck.
At a loss, Wei Wuxian tried to soothe him. “Lan Zhan, how could I know this? You’re a man.”
“Do you think men don’t have hearts?” Lan Wangji muttered bitterly, refusing to look up. “Or is it just me you think is heartless?”
Wei Wuxian’s mouth gaped at the words. Lan Wangji was really hurt. Shit, he might even be crying.
“I know you have a heart, Lan Zhan. That’s why I gave you the rabbits,” Wei Wuxian said in a rush. “Sweet things that are soft and warm. Of course I know you have a heart, just… You’re always cold to me,” he reminded gently. “How could I know?”
“You torment the life out of me because I am cold,” Lan Wangji snapped back. “You tease me because I don’t react. You are relentless, making it impossible to think of anyone but you. How can you not know!”
Wei Wuxian laughed self deprecatingly at the accurate account of how he acted around Lan Wangji. But that didn’t mean he could have guessed this. Lan Wangji hadn’t given him any indication that he wanted anything but his death during those times.
“Lan Zhan, anyone else would have killed me by now.” Wei Wuxian peered down at Lan Wangji’s bowed head where his silky long hair fanned out over his shoulders. “You’re too nice.”
“I am not nice.” Lan Wangji growled and straightened, his glower piercing through Wei Wuxian’s brittle smile. “I will kill anyone else you act this way to, Wei Ying. But I don’t have to. You are only this way with me. You are obsessed with getting my attention, yet so oblivious!”
“I am not obliviousss…” Wei Wuxian hissed out as Lan Wangji abruptly reached down between them, his powerful hand cupping around Wei Wuxian’s throbbing cock, a barrier of cloth keeping him from feeling his hot flesh.
“Right. That.” Wei Wuxian lost his breath as Lan Wangji’s hand moved, rubbing up his length, giving him hard pressure to grind against when his hips rocked forward.
“Lan Zhan,” Wei Wuxian gasped, his eyes closing as Lan Wangji squeezed him firmly, seeming to know the exact needed touch to have him melting.
“This is not the first time you’ve been hard around me, Wei Ying.” Lan Wangji looked up to find Wei Wuxian boneless against the tree, head back, eyes gleaming dark slits, his breath coming out in fast gasps the longer Lan Wangji’s fingers continued to caress his hard length. “I am not blind. But you—you don’t seem to notice your body’s reactions when tormenting me.”
Wei Wuxian wasn’t sure he could possibly miss a reaction like this, but tried to think back, his memory a red haze. Sometimes he was pent up more times than others, needing his hand for release not just nightly, but through the day as well. Today had been such a day, but he couldn’t be sure if it was because of all the excitement of a Hunt, or because he had caught a glimpse of the beautiful Lan Wangji among a sea of flowers, or when the flower he threw was the only one Lan Wangji bothered to catch.
Like this, pinned against a tree, Lan Wangji’s hand moving with his rocking hips, Wei Wuxian was starting to suspect his quick to annoy friend might be the cause.
“Lan Zhan, I can’t help that you’re so impossibly beautiful,” Wei Wuxian declared breathlessly. “That’s the cruelty in all this. Even I, a man, can’t miss it. I don’t think any person can. But I would never bother you with it.”
Wei Wuxian had never done anything to treat Lan Wangji different than a friend. Well, besides trying to crack him from his frozen shell by teasing him relentlessly. But that was just the way he had to be with Lan Wangji, otherwise he wouldn’t look his way at all. And having Lan Wangji ignore him was probably the single most miserable feeling ever.
Huffing, Lan Wangji dipped close, hearing Wei Wuxian’s breath hitch. “Wei Ying, you have never once stopped bothering me.” He squeezed him through his pants again, earning a low groan in response. “You are chaotic turmoil, tormenting in all ways, vexing, and shameless. I don’t know what to do with you.”
He released Wei Wuxian’s cock as abruptly as he had grabbed it, and Wei Wuxian immediately whined in displeasure.
“Lan Zhan er-gege, why are you…? That felt good,” he grumbled.
“Promise me you’ll stop, Wei Ying,” Lan Wangji demanded. “I cannot handle this turmoil anymore.”
Wei Wuxian’s lips pursed and his gaze darted away, avoiding Lan Wangji’s despondent glare. “There’s nothing to stop.” He shrugged, his pout growing. “I tease you a bit. I tease everyone.”
“Even if that were true and you weren’t doing everything to drive me mad, It is different to me,” Lan Wangji bit out. “It is torment.”
Wei Wuxian glared sullenly at the ground, refusing to speak.
“Wei Ying, please.” Lan Wangji reached for his chin, turning him toward him. “I feel as though I’m going to break apart the longer this goes on. That damn flower—and my headband! You don’t understand what you’re doing to me.”
Pursing his lips in a grim line, Wei Wuxian shook his head stubbornly. “What would you say to me?”
“What?”
“If I don’t tease you, what would you say to me?” Wei Wuxian pressed angrily. “Are we to never speak again just because… because you take my words differently now?”
Lan Wangji paused, exhaling deeply. “I don’t know… I just know I can’t go on like this.”
Wei Wuxian’s pout returned. “Why? Because of a kiss?”
Anger flashed in Lan Wangji’s eyes. “Yes, Wei Ying, because I lost all my senses and kissed you! Because I let you tease and torment me instead of turning away, and I kissed you again!”
“So?” Wei Wuxian snapped defiantly, finally meeting Lan Wangji’s glare.
Lan Wangji gritted his teeth. “You are tied up and half naked. Covered in my marks—!”
“And?” Wei Wuxian shot back. “Am I crying? Calling for help?”
His eyebrows furrowed, Lan Wangji took a step back, his hand coming up to rub at his temple. “What are you saying?”
Wei Wuxian huffed. “You grab my erection yet call me oblivious.”
“You are!” Lan Wangji snapped.
“I know!” Wei Wuxian shouted. “But now I know, and, well, I’m not sure it matters.”
Lan Wangji’s eyes narrowed, and Wei Wuxian realized his mistake.
“Not that, Lan Zhan. Your heart matters. I would never…” He sighed. Wei Wuxian wasn’t good at serious things. It was much easier to tease. Even battle and slaughter were easier than this.
“Lan Zhan, come here.” Wei Wuxian’s heart clenched when Lan Wangji reluctantly approached, his normally poised composure replaced by a beautiful, heartsick expression that emanated from face to posture.
“Lan Zhan, I like kissing you.” Wei Wuxian was careful, trying to find the right words.
“I’m not what you want,” Lan Wangji said despondently. “You do not like men.”
Worrying at his lower lip, Wei Wuxian shrugged. “Maybe I don’t know what I like? Like you said, you have an effect on me.”
Lan Wangji only glared, his anger seemingly directed inward as he muttered, “It’s easy for a man to get hard from a hand. That doesn’t mean anything.”
Wei Wuxian shook his head. “Lan Zhan, it doesn’t take a touch. Just being around you…” He narrowed his eyes. “Don’t you want to try this?”
Grunting, Lan Wangji took steps away, avoiding his gaze.
“What? Now you don’t like me?”
Lan Wangji glared at the ground. “I never said I liked you. Only that you make me insane.”
Wei Wuxian was far too bad at these sorts of things to know the right words to say. He wanted to blame Lan Wangji—being nice had him heartbroken, and teasing had him furious. Wei Wuxian didn’t know of other options. He couldn’t even give him a flower without it being turned into torment.
Realizing he wasn’t good at being nice anyways, Wei Wuxian changed tactics. “Well, that explains it then.”
Glancing his way sulkily, Lan Wangji didn’t say anything.
“You killed all those trees, but never found it. It must have possessed you, right? To make you do something so unlike you?”
Lan Wangji rubbed his temple again. “You know that’s not what happened.”
Wei Wuxian shook his head stubbornly. “You think I can trust what you say about it? You kissed someone who smells of corpses.”
His lips flattening into a grim frown, Lan Wangji fixed his gaze on Wei Wuxian. “I said only a little. It’s mostly grave dirt on your boots.”
“See? The Lan Zhan I know would never deign to even disturb a grave,” Wei Wuxian pointed out. “So, obviously, something in the trees got you, and made you attack innocent little me when I was blindfolded and half asleep.”
“Wei Ying, the only thing making me crazed is you,” Lan Wangji snapped, taking a step toward him.
Wei Wuxian snorted. “You say that, but I saw the massacre you committed. That tree yao lost its entire family to your blade.”
Baring his teeth like a feral animal, Lan Wangji placed his hands on the tree trunk on either side of Wei Wuxian’s head, staring down at him moodily. “Can’t you give me five minutes of peace?”
“Not if you’re going to be so sad about it,” Wei Wuxian said honestly. “It must have a powerful control to move you near tears.”
He meant it as a joke, but Lan Wangji’s silence confirmed he was indeed heartbroken and struggling to contain it.
“Lan Zhan, why are you sad that I like your kisses?” Wei Wuxian asked quietly. “How crazed has this yao made you?”
“There is no yao,” Lan Wangji grumbled. “I’m just crazed. Rabid, even.” His gaze slid down to Wei Wuxian’s throat, eyeing the red marks his lips and teeth had made. His arm strayed forward, fingers tracing a line of hickeys, hand spreading wider to palm over his flesh.
His eyes drifting closed at the heated touch, Wei Wuxian pressed forward, seeking Lan Wangji’s frown with his lips. Having only been kissed, Wei Wuxian wasn’t sure what to do when Lan Wangji’s lips refused to give, feeling as though he might turn away at any moment.
Wei Wuxian reached with bound hands to grab the front of his robes, pulling him tighter to him, pressing kiss after kiss to Lan Wangji’s still mouth. His tongue teased against the seam of his lips and Lan Wangji finally softened under his gentle touches, opening with a sigh that had Wei Wuxian’s toes curling.
Wei Wuxian tentatively sought out his tongue, gasping quietly when he found it, growing bolder when Lan Wangji’s tongue tangled with his and his palm cupped his cheek, fingers coiled around his ear.
Lan Wangji pressed closer, lips sliding wet as he deepened the kiss, thrusting his tongue into Wei Wuxian’s waiting mouth, curving his body against his, heat flaring every spot they touched. Lan Wangji’s other hand slid down the muscles and injuries of Wei Wuxian’s bare back, fingers trailing heat, his palm firm as he pulled at the curve of his lower back, Wei Wuxian groaning as their lower bodies ground together.
Wei Wuxian pulled away to breathe, his dazed eyes blinking open to find Lan Wangji’s expression more hungry than sad. Most of his anger had faded into something just as heated and intense, and it had Wei Wuxian’s pulse racing at the sight.
Wei Wuxian’s gaze slid down their bodies, seeking out the hardness against his hip burning through his trousers. He swallowed hard when he caught sight of it, his fingers twisting at the front of Lan Wangji’s outer robe.
“Lan Zhan, I found it.”

Lan Wangji’s eyes narrowed and followed Wei Wuxian’s gaze down his pristine, white Lan Clan robes to where the fabric was tented around his erection.
“I’ve found the tree yao.” A devilish grin flashed across Wei Wuxian’s lips. “It was hiding in your pants.”
Glaring as nonsense once again fell from Wei Wuxian’s mouth, Lan Wangji grabbed him by the chin and kissed his wicked grin punishingly.
Wei Wuxian’s eyes widened in surprise and he groaned as Lan Wangji’s teeth grasped his lower lip and tugged. The air left Wei Wuxian in a harsh blast, his head dropping back, Lan Wangji’s hand supporting the back of his head as he followed, stroking his tongue inside him in demanding movements. Wei Wuxian could only moan, his fingers losing strength and scrabbling uselessly for purchase as his knees wobbled.
When he was released, body heaving for air, Wei Wuxian stared at him with heavy lidded eyes. “Lan Zhan, if you don’t like my teasing… you shouldn’t kiss me,” he said between strained breaths, eyes drifting to Lan Wangji’s swollen lips. “It’s confusing… like you only want to be teased more.”
Growling, Lan Wangji pulled from Wei Wuxian’s bright red lips, staring at him unreadably while they both panted. His crystal eyes moved down, following the curve of Wei Wuxian’s colorful throat to settle on an untouched spot of gleaming pale flesh between his shoulder and clavicle. Decided, Lan Wangji dipped down, his lips and teeth swiftly latching onto his flesh.
Wei Wuxian wailed from the sudden pain, his entire body jolting as white flashed behind his eyes. A giddy laugh bubbled out of him, only to be replaced with a groan when Lan Wangji bit harder. “Fuck, fuck… Lan Zhan, that’s not—oh! That’s not what I meant,” he groaned. His knees gave an unsteady shake right before they gave out completely. Lan Wangji caught him around his narrow waist and hooked a hand under his thigh, pulling him against his sturdy body as his tongue tried and failed to soothe the skin he was tormenting. He waited until Wei Wuxian’s wanton moans became too much to bear before giving a final lick to his heated flesh.
Lan Wangji pulled his head back, his breath heavy as he eyed his work. A large, scarlet bruise bloomed in claim on Wei Wuxian’s lovely pale skin sheened with sweat.
“Lan Zhan, why are you so mean?” Wei Wuxian groaned, unshed tears glistening at the corners of his eyes, swollen lips parted beckoningly, his head tilted to the side as he tried to regain his senses. “I was only teasing.”
Huffing, Lan Wangji reached down to cup Wei Wuxian’s rock hard length, his dick not having flagged at all from the rough treatment. If anything, he had grown harder. “A bully only understands a bully,” Lan Wangji stated, daring Wei Wuxian to disagree when he was once again grinding against his hand.
Wei Wuxian’s lips twisted into a mischievous grin, one that broke into a moan when Lan Wangji wrested him by his hips down onto his lap, Wei Wuxian’s thighs spreading for purchase as their erections ground against each other’s. Lan Wangji’s cock felt huge, hard, and just as angry as its owner. If ever a tree yao could be in someone’s pants, it certainly felt like it was true from Wei Wuxian’s perspective.
Wei Wuxian lifted his tied hands in offering. “Lan Zhan, untie me.”
“No,” Lan Wangji refused, catching the sparkling mischief in Wei Wuxian’s eyes.
“Come on. I want to… I want to touch it,” Wei Wuxian insisted heatedly, pressing his forehead to Lan Wangji’s chest as he stared down at the large tent in his pants. “I’ll worship it and feed it delights—ha!” He broke down into breathless snickers as Lan Wangji growled in his ear.
“It is not a tree yao!”
Wei Wuxian’s laughter broke free, unable to keep it in the more incensed Lan Wangji became. “Something kissed me in the wilds, Lan Zhan, and it certainly wasn’t you!”
Shaking his head, Lan Wangji grabbed Wei Wuxian by his thick, dark hair and twisted until his laughter was under control. Wei Wuxian was left pouting, looking moments from an overly aggrieved whine, except his lips kept widening as he failed to hide his smile.
“Do you think you were kissed by my cock earlier?” Lan Wangji gritted out, wanting to show him how ridiculous he was being. But Wei Wuxian flushed with lips parted, and Lan Wangji understood the trap he’d been caught in once again by this infuriating troublemaker. “Wei Ying!” he warned, but Wei Wuxian’s devilish lips were already moving.
“I would need my blindfold to know for sure,” Wei Wuxian said matter-of-factly, acting as if he wasn’t completely making the whole thing up and obstinately digging himself into a hole.
Lan Wangji’s fingers twitched to strangle him, but instead he grasped at the dark armband at Wei Wuxian’s wrist and pulled it free. It was the same piece of material used for his blindfold earlier, and Wei Wuxian’s chest tightened at the sight of his bluff being called.
“Make sure I can’t see,” Wei Wuxian said with exaggerated seriousness. “It might grow fierce if seen.”
Lan Wangji’s glare grew in intensity. He glanced down at Wei Wuxian’s tied hands, well aware he wouldn’t be able to pull the blindfold off once it was on him. Feeling vindictive, Lan Wangji looped the smooth black material around Wei Wuxian’s face, covering it over the front of his eyes and knotting it securely in the back multiple times.
Wei Wuxian was much easier to deal with like this, only his mischievous mouth free to remind him of all the trouble he was plotting.
“Well?” Wei Wuxian asked the longer Lan Wangji stared at him in silence. “Introduce me to your blushing yao.”
Lan Wangji seriously considered biting him again. If he scarred the idiot bad enough, he might finally think before he spoke. But he also knew that was unlikely for Wei Wuxian, who only seemed to know trouble and torment.
“Wei Ying, do you not understand what you’re even asking?” Lan Wangji snapped. “There is no tree yao!”
“Of course there is, Lan Zhan,” Wei Wuxian replied confidently. “There’s no way a stick in the mud like you stole my first kiss. I can’t believe you would try to save face by pretending the tree yao didn’t kiss you too. You’re so mean, Lan Zhan.” Although he had started whining again of how wrongly aggrieved he was, the devious grin that flitted on Wei Wuxian’s lips gave him away.
It was the worst game of chicken, partly because Wei Wuxian was baiting him with something he clearly didn’t think he’d have to face. He thought he could embarrass Lan Wangji out of this forest and straight back to Gusu.
The urge to bite itched through his teeth. Lan Wangji glared at Wei Wuxian’s blindfolded face, then down, taking in the passionate marks littered on his pale skin, his hands held tight in his hair ribbon, and his undeniably hard erection tenting the smooth fabric of his blank pants. Wei Wuxian had not won any of their interaction so far, and Lan Wangji wasn’t about to let that change.
Lan Wangji dumped Wei Wuxian out of his lap, leaving him to sprawl on the ground among his dark robes. He stood and moved a few feet away, pushing his white robes from his body in silence. As he undressed, he watched unguarded expressions flit across Wei Wuxian’s face as he struggled to get upright with his hands still tied. He ended up on his knees, snickering to himself as he bit at the ribbon wrapped around his wrists.
“Heh, I bet he was blushing hotter than fire!” Wei Wuxian crowed between bites to his wrists, the ribbon not budging. “No, hotter than the sun… But how mean that he left me tied up! Lan Zhan!”
“What?” Lan Wangji replied coolly, Wei Wuxian immediately stilling from the sound of him so close.
“Uh… untie me?” Wei Wuxian asked with a queasy smile, quickly removing the ribbon from his teeth.
Glaring, Lan Wangji stalked forward, gripped Wei Wuxian by his hair and wrenched his head back. “You haven’t met the tree yao yet.”
Gulping, Wei Wuxian tried to smile his way free, pointing his blindfolded face toward the direction of Lan Wangji’s voice above him, but Lan Wangji’s grip wouldn’t loosen no matter how much he grinned at him.
“You said I couldn’t possibly have kissed you. That… what was it, Wei Ying? I’m always stiff as a board?”
“I was joking, Lan Zhan!”
“You were not,” Lan Wangji countered sharply. “You are so convinced that I have never kissed anyone that you’ve been searching for a tree yao this entire time.”
“Teasing!” Wei Wuxian insisted, the word stretching into a whine when Lan Wangji wrenched his hair again.
“You are tormenting! Again,” Lan Wangji growled. “After I confessed to you. You do not learn!”
Wei Wuxian was not interested in learning, liking Lan Wangji best like this. He reached up, trying to get free of the hand grasping his hair, but Lan Wangji’s other hand blocked him.
“If you’re going to insist that there’s a tree yao,” Lan Wangji twisted Wei Wuxian’s hair hard. “And that I’m concealing it in my pants,” he added with another rough wrench. “Then the only solution is to see who is correct.”
Feeling hysterical at the situation he had gotten himself into, Wei Wuxian couldn’t help but snort, the sound earning him another sharp pull at his hair.
“Lan Zhan,” he pleaded, his manic grin breaking free despite his best efforts. “Please. I’m sorry I teased you again.”
“Then why are you smiling!” Lan Wangji growled, pulling Wei Wuxian’s hair until he was stretched out on his knees, his head back, long body arched like a bow.
Groaning, his skin feeling too hot and tight, his cock unbearably hard, Wei Wuxian tried again, but he couldn’t contain the maniacal grin twisting his features. “Sorry, really,” he rasped out. “I just never thought you’d… that you, of all people, would bluff like this. You’re impressive, Lan Wangji!”
“Bluff?” Lan Wangji released his hair, grasped Wei Wuxian’s bound hands and pulled forward, dragging them to his body. Wei Wuxian froze, his mouth falling open as his fingers met bare, air-chilled skin.
Swallowing hard, Wei Wuxian’s fingers uncurled, spreading carefully, finding the hard muscles of Lan Wangji’s uncovered abs and teasing sideways, seeking the edge of his waist. Still no robes were found, just the silky brush of his long hair. Exhaling unsteadily, Wei Wuxian changed direction, pulling down, his thumb trailing until he found a sharp hipbone absolutely bare of trousers and undergarments.
“Lan Zhan… where are your clothes?” he finally managed to choke out.
Fingers threading into the hair at the back of Wei Wuxian’s head, Lan Wangji pulled him closer, until Wei Wuxian’s breath had met his bound hands. “A tree yao stole them.”
Wei Wuxian laughed as nerves quivered hot in his stomach. “Lan Zhan, take my blindfold off.” He needed to see him. Lan Wangji had stripped in the middle of the forest with no nightfall or water to hide anything, and Wei Wuxian desperately needed to see how he looked.
“No.” Lan Wangji’s palm cupped his cheek, his thumb brushing over Wei Wuxian’s swollen lips. “Not until you kiss it.”
His knees feeling like water where he was kneeling, Wei Wuxian exhaled heatedly against Lan Wangji’s hand. “Is it angry?”
“Very,” Lan Wangji agreed. “It might take more than one kiss to pacify it.”
The very audacity of his prim and proper Lan Wangji saying something like that to him had the darkness spinning and Wei Wuxian’s mouth very wet all of a sudden.
“How many?” Wei Wuxian asked, turning his face against the press of Lan Wangji’s palm and placing a soft kiss there.
Inhaling sharply at the gentle touch, Lan Wangji’s long fingers moved to his chin, guiding him closer to the heat radiating from his body. “Find out.”

Realizing he had gotten himself into a brand new type of trouble, Wei Wuxian wasn’t sure if he should beg to stop, or beg for Lan Wangji to keep saying things like that. It was impossibly sexy, every muscle in his body feeling like slow dripping honey at the sound of Lan Wangji’s low voice ordering him to do unspeakable things.
The hand on his chin left, giving him the choice, and Wei Wuxian stole closer, seeking out heat and flesh until Lan Wangji’s taut skin was beneath his lips as he kissed the expanse between hip and groin.
Lan Wangji smelled of sandalwood and musk, the coolness of the air doing nothing to soothe the heat of his skin. He was smooth beneath his mouth, and Wei Wuxian couldn’t resist flicking his tongue out to see how he tasted.
Muscle spasmed beneath his tongue and Wei Wuxian exhaled noisily. He kissed his flesh again, sliding closer to Lan Wangji’s center, feeling muscles tighten beneath his searching lips. Lan Wangji’s cock was a heat hovering to the side of his face, and finding his nerve, Wei Wuxian turned to it, the bridge of his nose burning as he brushed against it.
Lan Wangji’s breath hitched, and Wei Wuxian found himself smiling crazedly when he finally pressed his first kiss to Lan Wangji’s large member.
“So angry,” Wei Wuxian murmured, kissing slow, soft touches up his length, stealing to the side, sometimes dropping lower if he felt he missed a spot. Wei Wuxian’s cheek, chin and nose brushed at various times as he moved, helping him get a better idea of its large shape and size. Fingers twisted into his hair, but didn’t pull, Lan Wangji’s hand trembling with every soft kiss.
Wei Wuxian’s slow drift up had finally found an end. His next kiss found Lan Wangji’s foreskin stretched back from his smooth tip, Wei Wuxian’s lips carefully sliding along the ridge of skin. The fingers in Wei Wuxian’s hair curled, and he smiled again, his next kiss pressing to the hot tip of Lan Wangji’s cock.
“Still angry?” Wei Wuxian asked, his question deliberately breathed against Lan Wangji’s swollen tip that felt very angry, burning hot against his sore lips. Lan Wangji didn’t answer, and Wei Wuxian had to wonder if he even could, his breath having become ragged on his meandering path up his cock.
“Wei Ying,” Lan Wangji finally spoke, his voice a dark rasp as his hand moved down to Wei Wuxian’s cheek. “Is this how you were kissed?”
Wei Wuxian was light headed, wishing desperately to see Lan Wangji’s face. “No.”
“Your mouth was open.” Lan Wangji’s fingers found his lips, pressing against them until he yielded and opened. “And a tongue entered you…”
Panting, Wei Wuxian whimpered as two of Lan Wangji’s fingers pushed inside his mouth.
“Your tongue tangled and fought back… and you made the most quietest sounds of abandon…”
Wei Wuxian groaned, opening wider, saliva dripping from his lips as Lan Wangji used the fingers in his mouth to draw him down to his straining tip.
The head of his cock pressed against his open wide lips. Lan Wangji removed his fingers, only to press on the top of Wei Wuxian’s head, urging him deeper.
“Don’t stop. Kiss it like you kissed before,” Lan Wangji said hoarsely.
Delirious with need, Wei Wuxian tried, even though he knew that Lan Wangji’s cock was much thicker and longer than any tongue. He sank slowly onto his tip, wet lips contouring to his slick head, his tongue teasing close to greet the hot, straining flesh.
Lan Wangji’s fingers clutched at his hair, Wei Wuxian able to feel the muscles in his body grow tense and tighter with every lick he rubbed along Lan Wangji’s length. He let his tongue slide lower, breaching his sore lips to tease at the tight folds of Lan Wangji’s foreskin, then swallowed deeper, his eyebrows twisting as he realized just how thick Lan Wangji was, his lips stretched wide with each inch he managed to take in. Wei Wuxian directed his tip toward the back of his throat as he struggled to breathe through his nose and saliva dripped free.
Lan Wangji’s restraint cracked, his hips jerking once, even as his hand quickly grasped at Wei Wuxian’s face to keep him from choking.
“Wei Ying,” he groaned as Wei Wuxian’s tongue continued to rub and contour to the underside of his shaft. He hadn’t expected it to feel this good, for Wei Wuxian to take him in so readily, so deep. Having his hot, tight mouth on him like this was maddening, Lan Wangji’s need only growing with every wet, struggling sound of Wei Wuxian’s mouth.
Lan Wangji’s fingers clawed at Wei Wuxian’s hair, trying to warn him, pull him away. Wei Wuxian didn’t seem to notice, too busy with the new flavor that had teased into his senses, his tongue seeking it out. He kept his lips tight as he sought out Lan Wangji’s tip, tongue probing into the narrow slit, seeking the taste of his precum. He descended again, flat tongue rubbing along his tip and the underside of his shaft, Lan Wangji’s groan vibrating through the both of them.
“Wei Ying, I can’t… Just wait…” Lan Wangji’s eyes squeezed tight, unable to understand how quickly Wei Wuxian was bringing him to release. Lan Wangji gripped the side of his face, fingers digging in, rocking forward into his wet mouth, then sliding back, eyes slitted watching the blindfolded Wei Wuxian’s lips contour and stretch around his thick flesh.
He couldn’t last, not like this with Wei Wuxian looking so obscene as his mouth was shallowly fucked. It was everything Lan Wangji had ever wanted from his infuriating friend, and still, Wei Wuxian kept his lips sucked tight and tongue a firm pressure.
His orgasm hit him hard, Lan Wangji’s hips jerking roughly, his palm pressing against the back of Wei Wuxian’s head to hold him in place as he thrust toward the back of his throat.
Wei Wuxian fought a moan at the first splash of hot seed, his mouth opening wider to accommodate the increased inches of Lan Wangji’s cock pumping into him. Saliva and cum built at the back of his throat, but it wasn’t until the sudden press of Lan Wangji’s cock head against his tonsils that his throat spasmed, choking him. He pulled back quickly, Lan Wangji’s length emptying from his mouth as he coughed roughly.
Wei Wuxian groaned as a wet stream of cum streaked over his cheek and nose, his mouth wide in heavy gasps. His face burned red as he leaned against Lan Wangji’s hip to recover.
